Monday 5th October “All Fools Day” at Abington Lodge Barn 6.00 – 7.30
SCE's annual binge of fruit (‘fruit fools' – get it?). Fruit from our all organic orchards and gardens, plus cream, sugar, honey, spices,… You choose. £1 entry for non-members unless they're wearing a Fools Hat or at least a nice buttonhole.

Fri 23 rd October at Abington Lodge Barn 1.00 - 3.00
Friday 30th October Darque in the Parque at Wilsons ' Orchard 6.00 - 8.00 (This Halloween event is thanks to the Local Network Fund. Ta.)
Bring your mums and dads to a spooky evening in the old orchard. Walk along a darke darke path through the darke darke woods. You'll need perhaps masks, certainly lanterns or candles. All survivors (!) get to eat organic goblin soup or some such.

Friday 6th November “Spuds and Sparklers”at Abington Lodge Green 6.00 – 7.30
Children! Are your parents the easily scared sort? Will you take care of them if they come too? Will they enjoy the spuds more than the sparks and sparklers? What about you? So many questions! We'll light our Rocket and fireplace cooker for the spuds.
There may not be any ghosts there. You may not see anyone wearing masks. You may get cold if we leave the fire for a twilight ramble. Perhaps bring a candle?
Litter Pick – Long Park ?
Friday 13th November Pocket Park Pick at “ Long Park ” 10.00 – 3.30
Meet at Cottingham Drive (the Boughton Lane end) and we'll pick the litter that the GBP (great British public) and the RDCI (really don't care industry) plus the OSW (occasional strong winds) scatter on this mile-long wildlife park. Kit supplied but your own thick gloves are suggested as they'll fit better. Rocket Stove, cups of fresh-brew in attendance.

Wednesday 9 th December Carol Singers and Mumming Play Come-all-ye at Abington Lodge Barn 6.00 – 8.00
We need a Carol-singing Group and a Mumming Play Group for our Xmas Extravagance this year. Bring your wonderful voices or your horrible voices, your acting ability or lack of it. Bring your instruments to play - even better. This is for fun not to win prizes. A free SCE Christmas Book (new) for all who come plus hot drinks and mince-pies to help us get ready for ….
… The SCE Christmas Party on Wednesday 16th December , at Abington Lodge Barn. 7.15-9.00 (Christmas decorations helpers etc please be there at 6.15) Our annual event that involves tasty Christmas fayre, music and carol-singing - and this year The Mumming Play - and a generally good time.

Saturday 2nd January Wassailing the Apple Trees Wilsons ' Orchard 4.30-6.30 Our Apple Cause event: Celebrate old Christmas Day by Wassailing the Apple Trees. This old magic makes sure they bear well in 2010. Eat potatoes hot from the bonfire and drink spicy punch. Wrap up against the weather, wear boots! Oh – and bring a torch
Thursday 14th January Introduction to Fruit Tree Grafting & Pruning (1) Abington Lodge Barn 7.15-9.30
The first of two sessions. These dark nights are the time to learn the theory – and indoors practical too - behind grafting and pruning and why they are so important. Get skilled up working on actual materials.

Saturday 13 th February, The Botany of Love for Valentines Abington Lodge 2.00-4.00
We'll see what nature provides in the way of love potions and courting gifts from the natural world of a nature reserve. Make- and-Take home what you fancy for who you fancy. A light-hearted time for the light of heart.
Tuesday 16 th February Pancake Relay Race at Abington Lodge Green 4.00-6.00
Teams-of-two required. £1 to enter. Best team scoops the lot. Worst team – the washing up (unless we relent!). The pancakes will be prepared on our field fire-place – psssst! Want to help with that? And any pancakes surviving the race will be eaten with fruit and honey. Should be OK fun.
Thursday 25 th February Fruit Tree Grafting & Pruning (2) at a local orchard to be decided among those attending on 14 th January.
Got some older fruit trees and don't know how to prune them? While the sap's still down now is the time. Also there will be material to practice tree-making grafting skills. Why not bring along an apple tree twig to turn into a tree? Make- and-Take a tree home if you like: Members £1.50, Non-members £3.50. Or leave it for SCE's orchard-making.
